Ep. 11 – Stages of Grief

October 27, 2022

Grief is often a painful and intimidating subject for people to address. The feelings that they bring up can be overwhelming and cause you to want to run and hide, or maybe even pretend that it’s not there. In this episode we help you to better understand what the stages of grief are and to normalize your feelings and experiences. First, let’s address that grief is not synonymous solely with death, but rather with loss. What kind of loss have you experienced lately? Loss of trust? Loss of respect? Loss of safety or security? Loss of freedom? Loss of a pet? Loss of a friendship? Loss of financial security? Loss of self-confidence?  We could go on and on.

Let’s talk stages….or rather waves. Grief comes in waves, and sometimes it can feel like you’re drowning.

Grief Stages/Waves:

Denial / Shock

Anger / Frustration

Bargaining (what if… if only…)

Depression / Sadness

Acceptance
